I downgraded iTunes to 11.4 per waynes suggestion and things seem a lot easier to read. I'm on a 32-bit system too. Here is what I found from doing a little poking around the web. If I decide to use FLAC files, I'll have to get an app that can support flac on my phone. It said something about going to the apps section on iTunes and putting files in whatever app you downloaded from the shaired app in iTunes? so if I got good player, I'd have to put the FLAC files under the good player under my apps on iTunes. huh say what?
so another option which seems like it might be easier (but take more time), is me to convert my flac files to apples lossless audio format. In this way, I can play the *.alac files in the native music player on my iPhone. to do this, I hear you have to go to iTunes , and then to preffrences, and select import options. choose ALAC in the file format box. but does this mean that only cd's ripped will go to the ALAC format? what I don't want is for iTunes to convert my files to MP3, AAC, etc. I don't care which format I use, as long as its lossless audio. I think it'd be easier to play in the music player, although I don't have any experience with that other than the iTunes radio. but I know being an apple produt , it'll be accessible. all the files are properly tagged, so I want to be sure it all goes in my phone the right way. I also want to be sure that even though the songs are stored in my library that I don't have multiple copies on my computer, and that I don't delete the arigonal files. I have a 128 gig phone, and space be damned. I want lossless audio on my phone if at all possible. Can this be done? If so, how? I figure if I add a file to my library, that means that all those files will appear on my phone once I sync it right? same with the folder. but how do I make sure that if I add say a Various folder that it will appear under my music on my phone, and not under say photo's?
Thanks for all help! this is brand new for me, I've never done it before, and i'd lke to get it right the first ti time.
I'm running IOS 8.1.1 jailbroken on an iPhone 6 Plus 128 GB, and Windows 7 32-bit.
When you put files in to iTunes, these files will change to iTunes format.
Putting files in to iTunes, doesn't remove them from your computer, you are simply making a copy, so all your files in your computers library will remain as you have them and will not change.
To get files on to an iPhone in a formate you want requires finding an app that can be installed were you load your files in to that service.
iTunes quality is really decent actually, and when you sync your phone, your files will have the proper tags and such on your phone.
Hope that helps.
